ExxonMobil Chemical Introduces New Transparent and Translucent TPE Grades to Inspire Design
ExxonMobil has introduced new transparent and translucent thermoplastic elastomers designed for grip applications, and is an ideal replacement for flexible PVC. ExxonMobil TPE F471-60 exhibits excellent transparency with 82 percent light transmittance. The translucent grade, F371-60, has a light transmittance of 10 percent.

ExxonMobil Chemical’s Specialty Elastomers Improve Flexibility, Ease Processing of Wire and Cable Compounds
ExxonMobil Chemical’s Vistalon™ EPDM* rubber, Exact™ plastomers and Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) can improve flexibility in polyolefin-based compositions for wire and cable applications. In addition, these specialty elastomers are cost competitive and all are available in pellet form for easier processing. They are all compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives, and a wide range of the grades are Underwriters Laboratories (UL) approved.

The new B500 grade family has been developed for applications that require a very strong bond with nylon and high temperature resistance, such as power tools, kitchen tools, automotive applications, furniture and sporting goods.

ExxonMobil Chemical recently introduced a new design tool that can help engineers predict the long-term behavior of Santoprene thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs). The new “compression stress relaxation database” helps predict how Santoprene TPVs perform initially and then at any time during the expected life of the part. This enables engineers to create more effective designs, improving part reliability while reducing material use and costs.

ExxonMobil Chemical has recently made a number of customer-focused investments for its specialty elastomers portfolio in the rapidly growing Asia Pacific region. The new machine, with 130 tons clamping force and rotary table, was selected because it is similar to those most commonly used in industry.
