How is hardness measured?
Hardness can be measured many different ways with several different readings. A common method is the ASTM 5 second test. Another common method is the ISO 15 second test. Typically, a reading from an ISO test method is higher than a reading from an ASTM method. It is important to note that thickness and the measuring device play a role in the reading. Thicknesses under 3mm may give a false reading. Hand held devices typically result in a higher number than tabletop measuring devices.
