Weatherseals Weight savings, recyclability, lower overall system cost vs thermoset rubber. More than just a materials supplier, we take a systems solution approach with focus on optimized application design, supported by global supply and supply chain relationships.

Molded Weatherseals. Santoprene TPVs can be economically molded as corners or details on TPV or EPDM profiles. TPVs can also be molded over glass for fixed window systems and other rigid materials for weather and sound seals.

Extruded Weatherseals. Belt line seals, glass run channels, and a variety of other seals can be produced on standard thermoplastic extrusion lines with Santoprene TPVs. These seals can be combined with rigid materials for attachment, soft TPEs for sealing, coextruded slip coats or other coatings for low coefficient of friction or wear resistance to meet the system's performance requirements.

The significant global presence of Santoprene™ thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) in the automotive weatherseals market comes from more than 25 years of continuous improvements in product performance and application knowledge. Simpler thermoplastic processing, faster cycle times, lower scrap rate and the recyclability of Santoprene TPV translate into finished system cost savings. You can also reduce or eliminate expensive secondary and/or finishing operations. The resulting part-system typically offers weight reduction opportunities to system suppliers and car makers.

Key Benefits: Excellent sealability · Good load deflection · System cost opportunities · Design flexibility · Colorable · Lower weight · UV resistance/weatherability · Heat aging · Rubber-like appearance · Good adhesion to EPDM · Noise reduction · Recyclable
