Fungal Resistance

A customer emailed a request in via tpe.answerperson@exxonmobil.com asking if Santoprene™ brand TPVs were resistant to fungal growth. I referenced data which is located on page 19 of the Santoprene Rubber Physical Properties Guide (http://www.santoprene.com/cms/technical_brochures/806dcda681106a28/physprop.pdf).

If zero microbial growth is needed, it is recommended to dry blend an anti-microbial package to the Santoprene™ brand TPV. Some anti-microbial packages will last as long as the polymer lasts, as it is disbursed in the polymer matrix and should not be “eaten” away by the microbial growth. If there are any questions on packages which work in Santoprene™ brand TPVs, please call the AnswerPersonSM for recommendations.
